The Gaslight Anthem is four dudes from New Jersey who know a thing or five about making the place they call home proud. To the delight of both those who hail from the Garden State and those who don’t, the band (comprised of Brian Fallon, Benny Horowitz, Alex Levine and Alex Rosamilla) has been  churning out consistent, quality rock ‘n’ roll since the release of their 2007 debut, Sink or Swim.

The '59 SoundThe band gained considerable praise for their debut, but things really picked up with the release of their next two records, The ’59 Sound and American Slang. Both albums found the boys nailing down their sound, which meshes the pop-punk aesthetics of bands like Against Me! and the American desire for lost youth and faded lovers made most famous by none other than Bruce Springsteen.

In 2012, Handwrittenthe Gaslight Anthem released their fourth—and arguably best—record, the angst-ridden Handwritten. And now, they look to cement their status as one of the hardest working bands in the game by releasing a follow-up, Get Hurt, just two years later. Get Hurt‘s mid-August release date couldn’t be a more proper one, as the band’s heart-tugging lyrics are sure to soothe the burn from your summer-romance fall-out; if you can’t beat ’em, might as well join ’em.

We will soon see the release of Irish singer-songwriter Sinéad O’Connor‘s tenth studio album. I’m Not Bossy, I’m the Boss will be released on August 12th and has been produced by O’Connor’s longtime producer and once-husband John Reynolds. I’m Not Bossy, I’m the Boss promises to deliver on the artist’s characteristic style and lyricism on the topic of all things love, sex, and pop music.

I Do Not Want What I Haven't GotSinéad O’Connor was launched into worldwide fame in the early 1990s after her release of I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got. The album contained a cover of Prince‘s 1985 “Nothing Compares 2 U.” The song existed in obscurity before Sinéad O’Connor’s cover, and it soon The Lion and the Cobrabecame a worldwide hit. In the following decade, O’Connor would release several more albums and become an icon of critical acclaim and cultural controversy.

I’m Not Bossy, I’m the Boss appears to be an example of Sinéad O’Connor doing what she does best. In a first listen review,So Far ... The Best Of NPR spoke on the album: “O’Connor works in mostly familiar musical territory on I’m Not Bossy: multi-tracked vocals, folk flourishes, danceable beats amped up with rock attitude. Newly prominent in her mix is a strong blues element.” Watch the official music video for “Take Me To Church,” the first single from I’m Not Bossy, I’m the Boss below and discover the hype for yourself.

FKA Twigs may have earned her name from the way heThe xxr bones crack and pop, but she’s anything but old. The 26 year old Brit, born Tahlia Barnett, is set to release her debut longplay, the aptly titled LP1, next week. Though she originally moved to London to be a dancer, she ultimately quit the profession to write and record her own music. Her first products, the also-aptly-titled EP1 and EP2, showed her honing her own brand of dark, seductive R&B.

LP1 picks uGoodiesp properly where her two EPs left off. Its two pre-released singles, “Pendulum” and “Two Weeks,” have both earned Pitchfork Media’s “Best New Track” stamp of approval. They’re intriguing, ear-pleasing pieces of music, reminiscent of the vocal stylings of Ciara and Janet Jackson and the minimalistic intimacy of label-mates The xx.

LP1 comes out next week on Young Turks. It’s sure to add a nice layer of zesty, fluid R&B to a label already brimming with budding talent.

Indie-rockers Spoon are set to release their newest album They Want My Soul next week. It has been four years since the band’s last major release, and although the album is being released on a new label, it is shaping up to deliver classic Spoon brilliance.Love Ways

Ga Ga Ga Ga GaSpoon has persisted throughout an erratic career in the music industry. The band released a string of EPs in the 1990s that were met with various modicums of positivity. Their first release on a major label in 1998 was a hard commercial failure, and the band was quickly dropped. After signing with an indie label a few years later, Spoon erupted in popularity. The 2000 release Love Ways began a renaissance era for the band. Kill the Moonlight was released in 2002, followed by Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga in 2007. Songs from each album were featured in several TV shows and movies throughout the decade. In 2009, the popular review aggregator Metacritic ranked Spoon as the top overall artist of the decade.

They Want My SoulKill the Moonlight is the first Spoon release on Loma Vista Recordings, and features a new guitarist/keyboardist. Thankfully, the changes in production and direction seem to suit the band’s classic sound. You can listen for yourself below and enjoy the official music video for the track “Do You,” which is featured on the new album. If the rest of the album is anything like “Do You,” longtime fans of the band should expect quite an appealing experience.

The Rosebuds Make OutThe Rosebuds, a dance-folk duo out of North Carolina, formed their marriage and musical endeavor in 2001. Composed of Ivan Howard and Kelly Crisp, the duo was recognized by local indie label Merge Records two short years later, and subsequently released their debut record, The Rosebuds Make Out.

Gayngs RelaytedWhile the band has been prolific throughout their tenure, releasing six full lengths and three digital LPs in eleven years, they’ve worked tirelessly with other groups as well. In 2010, Howard contritubed his skills to Midwestern R&B supergroup Gayngs‘ only release thus-far, Relayted. And in 2011, The duo also toured with Bon Iver behind their enormous release, Bon Iver, Bon Iver.

Bon Iver, Bon IverJust before the release of their fifth LP, 2011’s emotionally devastating Loud Planes Fly Low, the husband and wife announced they had filed for divorce. While the divorce would surely mark the demise of other music groups, Howard and Crisp have continued to make music together. Next week marks a new chapter for the duo, as they’re set to release Sand + Silence, their first album since the split and the first for for their new label, Western Vinyl.
